What a Jira Cloud app actually costs

Marketplace listings quote a rate per user per month, which is not the number you pay. This page shows the monthly total for every Nirama app at four site sizes, next to the apps we compete with — all of it read from the Marketplace's own live pricing endpoint, not from a screenshot.

What our apps cost

Monthly total for the whole site, at four sizes. The right-hand column is the median of the established apps in that category at 100 users, so you can see the gap without reading five other pages.

Monthly cost of each Nirama app by site size, with the category median at 100 users
App25 users100 users500 users2,000 usersCategory median @100
FastRisk — risk matrix & RAID log$5$20$50.50$95.50$175
FastPoll — polls, votes & surveys$11.25$45$182$632$73.50
FastPoker — planning poker$11.25$45$182$632$100
FastAudit — custom field scanner$12.50$50$105$205$100
FastGantt — Gantt charts & timelines$36.25$145$382.50$932.50$150

Two of those rows deserve a sentence each, because the headline number is not the whole story.

  • FastRisk is deliberately priced as a rounding error. A risk matrix competes with a spreadsheet somebody is currently tolerating for free. If the price is worth arguing about, the spreadsheet wins. $20/month for a 100-user site is not worth arguing about.
  • FastGantt is not the cheapest Gantt app, on purpose. It sits at roughly the category median, and at about 30% of what Structure.Gantt costs once you add the base app it requires, because a Gantt chart is a tool a whole project team lives in all day and pricing it as an afterthought would be a claim about its quality. The Gantt comparison makes that argument with the numbers.

Free up to 10 users, on every app

Every app we publish is $0 for sites of 10 users or fewer, for as long as you want to use it. That is our choice, not an Atlassian requirement — Atlassian merely allows $0 as the price of the first tier, and we take it on all five apps.

If your site is under 10 users, there is no purchase decision to make and nothing to expense. Install it; if it is not good, uninstall it.

The eleventh user is a cliff, and we would rather say so

Because Atlassian bills every user above the free tier — not just the ones past ten — an 11-user site pays the full first-band price. On FastRisk that is $2.20/month, which nobody will notice. On FastGantt it is about $16. It is still a step, and it is better that you read it here than discover it.

Why per-user pricing is the wrong shape for some apps

Marketplace apps are licensed for every user on your site, regardless of how many of them ever open the app. For a Gantt chart or an estimation tool that is roughly fair: most of the team uses it. For an administrator's tool it inverts the value curve completely.

FastAudit is the clean example. It is opened by one to five administrators, a few times a month, usually because the site is approaching Jira's 700-field limit. The sites nearest that limit are the old, large, migrated-from-Data-Center ones — precisely the sites a linear per-user price punishes hardest. At a textbook $0.40 per user, a 5,000-seat site would be asked roughly $2,000 a month for a tool three people use. So we did not price it that way:

Site usersFastAuditLinear @ $0.40/userWho actually opens it
50$25$201–2 admins
200$70$802–3 admins
1,000$155$4002–3 admins
5,000$255~$2,0002–3 admins

Note the first row: a small paying site pays more under our curve than it would under a linear one. The two are level at about 150 users and we are cheaper above that. That is the deliberate trade — an entry band that funds supporting accounts which cost the same to answer email for as large ones.

How Atlassian app billing actually works

Four mechanics that catch people out, none of them specific to us:

  • There is no flat-fee plan for Cloud apps. Cloud pricing is a ladder of user-count bands, each with its own amount, and the amounts must ascend. Per-user and flat-fee are the same knob at different slopes; the only real question is what a 5,000-user site should pay relative to a 50-user one.
  • Above the free tier, every user is billed — including the first ten. A band quoted at $1.45 ending at 100 users bills 100 × $1.45, not 90 × $1.45.
  • Annual billing charges ten months, not twelve. Paying yearly is roughly a 17% discount, automatically.
  • Your app tier follows your largest Atlassian product tier, not the number of people who use the app. This is why an admin utility on a big site can cost more than the admins believe is reasonable, and it is not the vendor's choice.

All the numbers on this page come from /rest/2/addons/{key}/pricing/cloud/live, the same public endpoint the Marketplace itself renders from, pulled by a script in this site's repo so nobody has to retype a competitor's price list. When we refresh the numbers we move the date at the top of the page in the same edit.

Per-category comparisons

One page per category, each with the full table and an honest account of what the incumbent does better:

Where we are not the cheapest, and what we do not claim

Being straight about this is cheaper than being caught:

  • Gantt Cloud undercuts FastGantt at every size ($45 vs $145 at 100 users). It also carries a 2.96★ rating against a category where the good apps sit above 4.3★. We think that is the trade being made; you may not.
  • Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) Survey for Jira is cheaper than FastPoll ($30 vs $45 at 100 users). It is also a different product — it collects satisfaction ratings on service requests, not team polls. If CSAT is what you want, buy that.
  • Async Poker and SprintPoker undercut FastPoker on a very large site ($507.50 and $617 against our $632 at 2,000 users), and Team Voice undercuts FastPoll from about 500 users upward. Our curves are aimed at the middle of the range and we lose at the top of it.
  • Optimizer for Jira is within a rounding error of FastAudit at small sizes ($53 vs $50 at 100 users) and does considerably more than fields. The gap only opens up at scale, where its per-user curve keeps climbing and ours flattens.
  • None of our apps has customer reviews yet. They are new. An established app with 4.8★ from 200 reviews has earned something we have not, and no amount of copy on this page substitutes for it. What we can offer instead is a free tier with no time limit, documentation written from the shipped behaviour, and a security page that lists what we do not have.

Prices are USD list prices for commercial licences on monthly billing, before any discount Atlassian applies to your account, and they are somebody else's numbers to change. Check the Marketplace listing before you buy.

Under 10 users? There is nothing to decide

Every app is free at that size, permanently. Install one, use it for a month, and tell us what is wrong with it.
